It’s a New Day

25 songs in 25 days
Day 25: A song you could listen to for an entire day and not tire of it.

To my conservative friends: you may not want to watch this video as it might irritate you somewhat. Hell, the whole song might annoy you. I respect you and the choice is yours but, as I say, you have been warned. lol

I really have listened to It’s a New Day by Will.i.am for the whole day after President Obama was voted into office, which is the day the song was released and a whole day at work when I really needed to hear SOMETHING positive nonstop or I would kill my boss. Politics aside (this is about songs, not politics or really crappy bosses), this song was such a pick me up.

Listening to this song gave me hope in my everyday life, reminded me that I, too, had survived a lot and every day IS a new day. I feel happy and hopeful for myself and my life when I listen to this song. Happy by Pharrell is a more current song that also makes me feel, well, happy. I know a lot of people are sick of hearing Happy, but I think that could be another one I might be able to listen to all day.

I have loved this song challenge. It was fun to share some songs I loved and to see what kinds of music others enjoy. I watched Les Mis because of one of the posts and loved it! It’s been a great experience and has gotten me more in the habit of posting daily again. So thanks for the 25 days of fun!

Here’s Will.i.am with It’s A New Day

It’s a New Day by Will.i.am

I went asleep last night
Tired from the fight
I’ve been fighting for tomorrow
All my life
Yea I woke up this morning
Feeling brand new
‘Cause the dreams that I’ve been dreaming
Have finally came true

It’s a new day
It’s a new day
It’s a new day
It’s a new day
It’s a new day

It’s been a long time coming
Up the mountain kept runnin’
Souls of freedom kept hummin’
Channeling Harriet Tubman

Kennedy, Lincoln, and King
We gotta invest in that dream
It feels like we’re swimming upstream
It feels like we’re stuck in between
A rock and a hard place
We’ve been through the heartaches
And lived through the darkest days

If you and I made it this far
Well then hey, we can make it all the way
And they said no we can’t
And we said yes we can
Remember it’s you and me together

I woke up this morning
Feeling alright
I’ve been fightin’ for tomorrow
All my life
Yea, I woke up this morning
Feeling brand new
Cause the dreams that I’ve been dreaming
Have finally came true

It’s a new day
(it’s a new day)
It’s a new day
(it’s a new day)
It’s a new day
It’s a new day!

It’s been a long time waitin’
Waiting for this moment
Been a long time praying
Praying for this moment

We hope for this moment
And now that we own it
For life I will hold it
And I ain’t gonna let it go

It’s for fathers, our brothers
Our friends who fought for freedom
Our sisters, our mothers
Who died for us to be in this moment

Stop and cherish this moment
Stop and cherish this time

It’s time for you and me
For us and we
That’s you and me together

I woke up this morning
Feeling brand new
Cause the dreams that I’ve been dreaming
Have finally came true
Yea, I woke up this morning
Feeling alright

‘Cause we weren’t fighting for nothing
And the soldiers weren’t fighting
For nothing
No, Martin was dreaming for nothing
And Lincoln didn’t change it for nothing
And children weren’t crying for nothing

It’s a new day
It’s a new day
A new day
It’s a new day
It’s a new day!

  1. Positive, Happy and a great message of Hope. What more could you want from a song. This was a fav of mine in the morning when I was going through one of those rough patches in life that seemed like a pothole at the time.
